A Brief Overview
Works with supervisors and managers to schedule technical staffing for various diagnostic imaging modalities. Assists department manager with implementation of radiography equipment. This includes performing inservices for technical staff, documenting quality assurance (QA) efforts and organizing on-going support for DR (Direct Radiography) as related to PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication Systems). Participates in orientation and training of assigned staff, students, residents and faculty. Responsible for producing quality images following established departmental and QA protocols using independent judgment and initiative. Performs general and specialized radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures which meet the department's standard of quality.

What you will do
  • Arranges on-going training for staff relative to CR and DR (Direct Radiography).
  • Compiles statistical and QA data as needed. Works with CR vendors and radiologist to set imaging parameter and protocols.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel of supply requirements; makes recommendations concerning the purchase, maintenance and/or repair of equipment.
  • Participates in orientation and training of assigned staff, students, residents and faculty.
  • Prepares and coordinates work schedules (including on-call, holiday sign-up and vacation sign-up). Previews timecards for accuracy.
  • Prepares contrast media and recognizes and responds to allergic reactions to contrast media.
  • Prepares patient for exam, i.e. identifying oneself, explaining procedures, confirming patient ID and checking correctness of the order
  • Prepares room and equipment. Troubleshoots equipment failures and reports problems to the appropriate individual
  • Produces quality images following established departmental and QA (Quality Assurance) protocols to include technique, views, position, proper labeling and patient ID (Identification)
  • Reports problems concerning staffing requirements, work methods, staff morale etc., and recommend solutions as appropriate to supervisor.

Education Qualifications
  • Requirement met by License/Certification Requirement

Experience Qualifications
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to apply judgment and make informed decisions
  • Ability to manage workflow and/or unit productivity
  • Ability to perform general and specialized radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures which meet the departmentsstandard of quality
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop tactical plans and set priorities
  • Ability to solve problems and identify solutions
  • Ability to speak and write effectively at a level appropriate for the job
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player
  • Knowledge of billing process
  • Knowledge of Imaging processes and fluoroscopic techniques, methods and equipment
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirements related to areas of functional responsibility
  • Knowledge of radiation production, positioning and radiation safety

Licenses and Certifications
  • CRT
  • BLS - Basic Life Support
  • ARRT-RTR - Reg Tech-Radiography ARRT

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $76.29 - $85.91 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
